Shadows and dark weights,
Cross bright straits,
Bound in streets,
Snarled in thick threads.
"Where is mine?" I ask,
Silence replies...
"Or perhaps"
It forgot the path.
"Ohhh! I remember..."
My Shadow is not here,
Not here with me,
Caged inside a room,
A room filled with treats.
Gold, sex and luxury,
Biggest of them all, self-trickery.
Stark do I feel,
Without a shadow left,
Optimism so hollow,
A carousel of lies that follows.
Shadow on the chair,
Rising restless in the air,
Strikes at the tiniest holes,
Seeking a way to stir.
I expel black,
Black as night,
I expel tar,
A coat of war.
Dear Shadow,
The war within me,
Strike at the lies,
Be my brave company.
Where is my shadow?
A Hymn for the shadows, for those 2D companions……
