Country dog

A poem about dogs and carefree attitude.

Written by

Country dog,
Wags its tail all day,
Country dog,
Kicks the mud with its hind legs,
Country dog,
Licks the nectar off the clear surface.
Country dog,
Tails a metal travel companion,
Country dog,
Barks at air without care,
Country dog,
Where lies your master?
Don't leave it in the air.

Country dog,
Dig holes and jump across them,
Country dog,
Every corner its temple-garden,
Country dog,
Country dog,
Where are you?

Now I cannot see you many,
High-rise buildings must be on the way,
Roadways grant a path temporary,
Swifty paths try to cut you into half,
Tall factories spew stench,
Throws you off a scent,
A trail to the grand treasure.

Country dog,
Where are you?
Oh there you are,
Beneath a bridge,
Shabby and mangy,
I would have thought you completely beaten,
But you are still breathing,
Gait as long and wild as your past ways,
Freedom a lost thing,
Pursued anyway.

Country dog,
This country is not meant for you,
But you will live in any country,
For it is your garden.
